Jennifer Garner, born April 17th, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was raised in Charleston West Virginia. The father of Jennifer Garner, William John Garner, was a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner taught in a college near her. Following in the footsteps of her father she earned a degree in chemical engineering. To pursue her acting dream, she decided to move in New York and try her hand in acting in Hollywood. As she appeared in Broadway productions, she worked as a server at the nearby restaurant. Her cameo was in the series "Felicity." (It it was in this series that she met her first husband, Scott Foley.) Garner received her first break in the action thriller "Alias." Her first leading role came in the highly acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going on thirty." Garner played a teenager trapped inside a 30-year old body. Garner chose Gary Winick to direct the film. They continued to look for other projects until Winick's death in 2011. Garner became an ambassador of Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. The role entails promoting literacy and nutrition in the US and early schooling. Since 2014, Garner has been a member of the board of trustees for the organization. She has been pushing for early childhood education. In her role as an ambassador, Garner visits often with the families who are part of Early Steps to School Success the program which trains parents in how to assist young children to learn.
